The bill, Intro 1126-2024, which, as of press time on Monday, March 10, awaits Mayor Eric Adams’ signature, mandates free distribution of the new trash bins – dubbed the NYC bin – to owners of single-family and two-family homes that are enrolled in the STAR or Enhanced STAR property tax relief programs.. Part of the council bill even includes a proviso to reimburse owners in this category who have already purchased them.
